Upgraded interfaces 💻

The summer’s here and I hope those of you with a long weekend last week managed to switch off. Because I didn’t want to interrupt the summer frolics, I decided to send this a little late.

That’s not to say we didn’t have anything to report – despite the fact that I was largely out of commission with a broken ribcage (the cost of pretending to be 19 on a onewheel).

The most obvious change users will have seen is that we’ve given the GANTT chart a makeover.

Finally, folks can zoom in and out easily, gantt bars are aligned properly and more. The GANTT chart has always been a pet peeve, so I’m delighted it’s fixed. While I’d love to claim it’s part of a general site redesign (as they say, we had dark mode even before it was fashionable, and way after), this edit is actually the product of something even more exciting: initiative. We offer folks 15% of their time to work on edits they think are important, and this was Taylor’s first major output from that time. I’m completely over the moon that the team is taking ownership like this.

Even better: while updating the Gantt chart, Taylor added a Tour mode, which we’ll be using liberally to help newbies get used to the site. I’ve been meaning to get to this for a while and it’ll be a major step towards allowing us to serve Authentise off-the-shelf.

While I’ve been told I’m not allowed to talk about other exciting developments yet, there have been meaningful changes through the platform. One is Material Filtering, which allows your users to order what you want them to be able to order, based on what you have in Stock. This is a nice addition for smart factories to only receive orders for things they have the capacity to make (or for them to specify that they'd like to receive orders despite not having stock yet). The benefits of an integrated order-and-workflow management system showing up in force.

Excited for next month, when I am finally allowed to share the big changes brewing. In the meantime – stay well and stay in touch. It’s easy to get hold of me: just email.

Look forward to hearing from you.
